Welcome to ARL!

Newcomers to ARL are asked to complete a short orientation process to become acquainted with ARL and its ways of doing business. ARL BME's orientation process is designed to supplement the University's orientations.

  • Complete any paperwork required by the ARL Business Office (applies to incoming classified staff, postdocs, & student employees).

  • Create a UA NetID if you don't already have one. The UA NetID is the electronic login used for creating email accounts, and for accessing University and ARL BME services and the campus' secure wireless network. Review hints for creating a secure password on the BCF's web page.

  • Set up a UA email account. The UA NetID is usually used as the email account identifier in the form of This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

  • See Renee about obtaining a UA id card, the CatCard, from the CatCard Office if necessary.

  • Contact BCF to set up your computer logon.

  • HOGL/GATC/BCF Employees: Make an appointment with Taylor or Joe Rush to have your picture taken for the photo board.

  • All employees, students, and volunteers who work in labs are required to complete the University's General Chemical Laboratory Safety Training, comprising an online tutorial and quiz. Other University or ARL BME training may also be required; check with your PI or lab manager.

  • Anyone who will be making purchases for the lab and/or traveling to conferences should review the Purchasing and Travel pages of the web site. Purchasers will meet with the appropriate individual from the Division Office for training.
