Guided Tour Policies
The University of Arizona is a diverse environment of classrooms, offices, and laboratories where many different activities are performed. Visitors to our facilities are welcome and encouraged. Necessary policies are enforced to protect health and safety, maintain productivity and regulatory compliance and to ensure an enjoyable experience for our visitors.
Advance Notice
We require a minimum of two (2) weeks notice to schedule the tour. If the request includes visitation of multiple sites, please allow at least three (3) weeks to allow sufficient coordination amongst the various groups on campus. We will accommodate shorter notifications but we will have to handled those on a case-by-case basis and the expediency will depend on the type of request. Please do give us a call or email us.
Scope
Field trips can effectively encourage learning through exploration and allow for up-close experience and link to real-life application of abstract concepts. In order to maximize the tour's impact, please submit a statement describing what you wish us to cover so that we can stay close to your educational objectives. Please provide the age level, grade level and curriculum. We will work with teachers to properly introduce appropriate concepts and terminologies to bridge ideas with real-life applications. Ideally, we would like to have pre-visit reviews to help make the site visit more informative and enjoyable. Some of our facilities have liaisons who can come and visit the classrooms to for briefing.
Supervision of Students
We require sufficient adult supervision organized by the visiting organization at one (1) chaperone per seven (7) students to ensure the safety of the group. Home schooled visitors will need to sign a release from each student in the group. Charter schools must provide us evidence that their school's policies regarding full oversight of their staff, ambassadors and students while on an official school field trips.
